Scribbles from the Notebook: New Night, Same Story
Thoughts, quotes and observations from the press box as the Red Springs Red Robins played their second game of the TSL season

Pregame:
"Well, the Robins have the right jerseys tonight. Let's see if the sleek duds - that fire red is pretty sweet - make any difference."
Top 1st:
“Danny Abell slides home under Chad Rapp’s glove. We’re up 1-0 early; A good sign after last night's collapse."
Bottom 2:
“Restivo beans Rapp, last night's hero. Not on purpose (maybe?), but the crowd doesn’t care. It’s getting chippy in Lumberton.”
Top 4:
“Bowser and Browning on the corners, big-inning potential is there… and then we strand them both. Again. I’m starting to think our team motto is ‘Threatening, but polite.’”
Bottom 4:
“Honeywell up. Two outs. Two Lumberton runners in scoring position. Pitcher spot up next. Why, just why do we pitch to him? Two-out single. Two runs score. I don’t want to write about it, but here we are.”
7th Inning Stretch:
“Big mistake. Crabtree calls wrong number from the pen. Bill Lane comes in dead cold instead of Jones. Thankfully it didn't get ugly. My bullpen notes now have ‘??’ scribbled in three spots."
Bottom 8:
“Four runs. Rapp doubles. Stiltner homers. I’m not saying it’s a pattern, but it’s a pattern.”
Final:
“Lumberton 6, Red Springs 1. I’m headed to Cook Out. Double milkshake and some fries with my name on them. Maybe try black jerseys tomorrow? Starting to feel like a funeral already."
