CBO Analysis
Now that we are in the second half of the season, we can see which teams are the haves and have not as we enter the trade month. While there have been multiple deals throughout the CBO, there have been few big deals as far as current CBO pl;ayers are concerned. We have one update in the Noteworthy News. Otherwise, we expect some teams to offload veterans and try to pick up some players that can reshape the team in the future. But first, let's break down the power rankings and league statuses. Brotherhood League
At 50-25, Salem not only has the CBO's best record, but they also have the most commanding lead with 55 games left to play in their 2315 season with an 11.5-game lead. Easy Town is the only other team above .500 with a 39-37 record, followed by Malden, The Slog, County Crossing, Nahant, and Nordhagen Beach.
The Grognaks have yet to make a playoff appearance in their five-year history, but Year Six may be the one, mostly because they are average in an below-average association. At 38-38, Malden really just needs to maintain their current progress. One place they may want to look to improve is hitting, where the Grognaks are 13th in runs scored (331) being among the worst teams for leaving runners on base. 2B Jack of Diamonds Cordero (.340/8/38) leads the team in average and RBI, but he is only on pace to finish with 65 RBI for the season. For reference, Salem's Seemly Sam Yucker currently leads the NCA with 65, and Roxbury's Joey Bell leads the CBO with 66. 1B Lance Tinter (.295/12/35), On the mound, the Grognaks are 7th in runs allowed but need improvement in the starting rotation where they are 11th in ERA (4.94). Ace Edgar Drezek (7-6, 3.01) has been the best starter by far. CL Rump Pellstilt (18 SV, 4.62) could be much better.
Institute League
Lexington and Bunker Hill look to be in a battle for the IL crown with the Synths just two games up. With a six-game winning streak, Cambridge is now in 3rd place at 38-38, followed by Concord, Fort Hagen, Sunshine Tidings, and Starlight, which is tied for the CBO's worst record with the Party Boys.
The Synths were up-and-coming last season when they surprisingly won the IL, but they are in it to win it in 2315. Lexington is only 4th in runs scored (380) but has the capacity to up those numbers, especially as the top-hitting team (.290). The 2-4 hitters are brutal: CF Packs Ton Kling (.266/18/40), RF Hurr Lee Reyes (.356/17/50), and 3B Tommy Whitetiger (.333/15/57). Pitching is also championship caliber, currently 2nd in runs allowed (319) and 3rd in both Starters ERA (3.96) and Bullpen ERA (4.01). While Deedee Martinson (5-6, 4.05) may not be the answer, he is still efficient in his first year with the Synths. SP Lyle Pine (10-4, 3.21) has been the best starter. In the bullpen, CL Hunter Kim (11 SV, 1.69) is in contention for the Fallon's Reliever Award.
Minutemen League
University Point has pulled away a little, but Atom is now on a three-game winning streak to place them just five back. Quincy at 40-36 is the only other team above .500. All of Spectacle Island, Southie, Jamaica Plain, and Goodneighbor are bunched together with one game separating them in the 4th-7th positions.
The Reapers had a short playoff run from 2306-2308 but have not been back in the past six years, while this season looks to be a seventh-straight. Offense is not the current problem, 4th in runs scored (395). Six players have at least 10 home runs for the SCA's top power team (105). Those six are LF True Tee Warrior (.305/22/57), 1B Griffin Herring (.281/15/57), 3B Donovan Mackey (.353/14/50), SS Nippy Ben Nippolt (.260/12/32), RF Mia Thunder (.331/10/43), and 2B Timon Blades (.231/10/20). Pitching has not been up to a playoff run, including being last in runs allowed (410) and Bullpen ERA (5.47). The top two starters--Aqua Purified (10-5, 5.06) and Jalep Temper (5-6, 4.50)--are talented but not getting the outs needed. Purified has had a lot of run support but requires that run support to win games. CL Mean David Green (9 SV, 4.83) has been Spectacle Island's best reliever.
Railroad League
With a 9-1 run in their last 10, Vault 81 has now taken control in the RL, while the team they were battling with, Roxbury, is now on a 10-game losing streak, dropping them to a 4th-place tie and five back of the Dwellers. Oberland and Glowing Sea are tied for 2nd place, while Egret and FHE take up the rear.
While it did not look like 2315 would be their season, the Dwellers are now in a position to again be in the championship discussion. While they started out slowly, Vault 81 has now recovered in record and statistics, including being 2nd in runs scored (414) and 4th in runs allowed (327). On offense, LF Stu Gains (.331/18/52) and 1B Pockets Wrench (.328/18/53) have been the leaders of a good 1-8 lineup. On the mound, ace Zack Million (8-6, 3.18) continues to do his job, while Scruffy Taguchi (7-5, 5.45) and Exxie Summerset (8-5, 4.45) have recovered from poor starts. In the bullpen, CL Dynamite Delaney (14 SV, 2.40) has been effective.
CBO Standings
CBO Players of the Week
June 21 - When it came to hitting the baseball, Eden Babz had few peers in the North Charles Association this past week.
The talented center fielder for Easy Town tagged opposing pitchers for a .519 average and was voted the Player of the Week Award. Included in his stats were 14 hits in 27 at-bats, 3 homers, 4 runs scored and 8 RBIs.
For the season, Babz is hitting at a .346 clip with 11 home runs, 46 RBIs and has scored 48 runs. He has 89 hits, 25 walks and a .401 on-base percentage.
Vault 81 sports fans can't stop singing the praises of Stu Gains, who has been selected the South Charles Association Player of the Week.
Gains was in a comfort zone all week, finishing with a .545 average (12-for-22), 9 RBIs and 4 home runs.
For the year, Gains is batting .329 with 17 home runs.
June 28 - It was an extraordinary week for Brian DeLong of the Salem Witch Hats. First he goes on a hot hitting streak, batting .478, then he is voted the Player of the Week in the North Charles Association. Last week DeLong went 11-for-23, racked up 4 home runs and 9 RBIs and scored 11 runs. It was a heck of a week for the Salem first baseman.
This season, DeLong has delivered 84 hits in 246 at-bats for a .341 average with 13 home runs. He is getting on base at a .491 clip and his totals also include 51 RBIs and 59 runs scored. This year DeLong has played in 74 games.
Prince Tripp demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award.
The Quincy center fielder wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .727 average (16-for-22) with no home runs and 5 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor.
So far this year, Tripp is batting .336 with 2 home runs, 31 RBIs and 26 runs scored.

June 17 - With the mid-season mark upon us, now is a great time to update the pre-season BNN Top 100 Prospect list with what we have learned to this point. This year, 18 year-old SS Joe Bureau of the Egret Ninjas is the #1 prospect overall.

June 21 - In a move that has fans in both cities buzzing, the Southie Brews and the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud have agreed to a deal that will have 22-year old 1B Oneday Golunski heading to Fort Hagen in exchange for 26-year old SS Brennan Colt-45 and 23-year old minor league SS Philip Eilhart. Provided they pass a physical, the players should be with their respective teams in time for tomorrow's games.
This season in 28 games, Golunski has hit at a .111 clip with 3 hits, no home runs, 1 RBIs and 2 runs scored.
This season, Colt-45 is batting .274 with 32 RBIs, 17 runs scored and 3 home runs.
June 22 - University Point starting pitcher Tony Bertha won't be back next year. The 38-year-old announced plans today to retire at the end of the 2315 campaign, saying that it was time to call it a career.
"I could probably play another year," Bertha said, "but I don't have that fire you need to play well. And I'm not going out there on those terms. It's a disservice to the Deathclaws and baseball in general. There are just too many aches and pains in this old body for me to continue playing."
Bertha has compiled a lifetime ERA of 3.55 with 209 career victories and 124 defeats. He has 1999 career strikeouts in 3102.2 innings and has held opponents to a .257 batting average.
NEBL All-Star Game
Medford Park was the place to be for baseball fans tonight, as the best NEBL players gathered for the annual all-star game.
On the field, the Yankee League downed the Patriot League by a score of 5-1. Off the field, game MVP Keg Gutterson said he thinks everyone had a good night.
"You looked into the stands and it seemed like everyone was having a fantastic time," said the 27-year-old, who went 3-for-3 in the game. "A game like this is good for the sport."
During his career, Gutterson has notched 211 hits and a .330 average with 34 home runs and 105 RBIs.
