April 28-30, 2034: vs NY Yankees (3)

Game 1: 4-12 L. LP-Acosta (1-1, 2.2 8 6 2 1 4). HR-C.Williams (3), Haro (3). An ugly game as the Yanks were up 6-0 by the 3rd and it didn't get any better from there.

Game 2: 8-3 W
. WP-Buckman (3-0, 6 9 3 3 2 4). HR-Gurrola (3), K.White (5). The offense returned and White's 3-run homer in the 8th put the game away. Buckman wasn't his sharpest but has now won all three starts since coming off the IL.

Transactions: Although we scored 8 last night the offense was stagnant for most of April so it was time for a mini-shakeup. Demoted to Durham are starting LF against righties Javy Jasso (hitting 154/233/246) and backup OF (and LF starter against lefties) Will Perez (146/217/195). Coming up to replace them is a new LF platoon: lefty swinger Victor Munoz and righty Kyle Deckard. Deckard was up for a little while last season and didn't do much (.161 in 56 AB) but can back up CF while Munoz came over from Philly in a minor league deal over the winter and boasts 60 power (50 contact). Neither was doing a lot at Durham but they can't do much worse than Jasso and Perez.

Game 3: 9-2 W
. WP-Najera (4-2, 6 2 0 0 3 2). HR-Rutschman (3), Hardy (4), Munoz (1). A 4-run first featuring homers from Rutschman and Hardy got the Rays going and they didn't look back. Haro was 3-4 with a double and 2 RBI and Munoz homered in his Rays debut while going 2-4. Najera walked some guys early but settled in nicely with the big lead.

Team record: 15-11, and we continue to remain 1 1/2 behind the Jays. Next up: An off-day then Houston visits for 3.

MLB News: San Diego superstar Fernando Tatis Jr. hit HR #500 and Cleveland's Trea Turner announced his retirement at the end of the season.
