
Game 85: Boston Red Sox vs. Miami Marlins
A short layoff and road travel to the Sunshine State, the Boston Red Sox (48-37) increased their win streak to 4 consecutive games by topping the Miami Marlins (45-40) by a 3 to 1 score. Of Note, the Red Sox stymied Luis Arraez today (0 for 3, Walk) ending his consecutive game hitting streak at 26 games.
This was a nice pitching outing for Boston starter Jack Flaherty (8-6), as he allowed just 1 earned run on 6 hits and 1 walk while striking out 8 in 8 innings of work; Game Score 73. Liam Hendriks (SV 14) worked a scoreless 9th inning to pick up the save. Leading the way at the plate today were Masataka Yoshida (2 for 4, Double, RBI, Sacrifice Fly), Tristan Casas (2 for 3, RBI, Walk), Rafael Devers (2 for 5, Run, RBI), and Marcelo Mayer (1 for 2, Run, 2 Walks).
Taking the loss was Jesus Luzardo (7-8) who permitted 3 runs (2 earned) on 7 hits and 3 walks while striking out 4 in 6 1/3 innings of play; Game Score 50. Andrew Nardi worked the final 2 2/3 innings in which he allowed 3 hits and 1 walk but did not create any additional scoring damage. The Marlins' offense was generated by Xavier Edwards (1 for 3, RBI, Sacrifice Fly), Tim Anderson (2 for 4, Stolen Base), and Nick Gordon (1 for 3, Double).
