at Minsk Bison (5th): Loss 2-5, Win 9-3, Loss 1-3
at Lisbon Caravels (15th): Win 4-1, Loss 3-8, Loss 1-8

A good week for

Sergio Rutz had a barnstorming week, racking up an OPS of 1.394, with 3 home runs and 5 RBIs.

Jason Portman had a host of super performances on defence, while also hitting for an OPS of .789 at the plate.

Alois Herzog, who had the week’s best start on the mound, going 6.2 innings without giving up a run in a 4-1 win against the Caravels.

Joey Booth, who came in and pitched 4 hitless innings against the Bison in a 9-3 win.

A bad week for

Espen Aas and Jesus Morales managed just 1 hit each with 10 plate appearances.

Mototomo Motoyanagi gave up 4 runs in 2.2 innings before being pulled in a 5-2 loss against the Bison.

Eskinder Ali, who gave up 6 runs, including 2 homers in 4.2 innings against Lisbon.

Thoughts

We need just 4 wins from the last 12 games to equal last year’s 83 wins, surely we can at least manage that? It would be a disappointing end given how well we started the season, but one I imagine many would have taken before it all began. The Madrid Mallards have all but won the division, with a 12 win lead with 12 left to play. We remain in 7th, 3 wins ahead of 8th, and 6 wins behind 6th, so it feels like this is where we'll likely end up!
