March 30th

Kessler Helps Aeros Win on Opening Day, 9-6

The Montreal Expos inaugurated the 2023 campaign with a disappointing 9-6 loss to the Boston Aeros at Olympic Stadium. Boston shortstop Tim Kessler had a big impact on the outcome. He was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The 2022 EL Gold Glover is coming off a .281-17-65 .741OPS 5.5WAR year.

Picking up the win was Tyrese Speed. He went 7.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits. The right--hander struck out 3 and walked 1. Paul Ide earned the save for Boston, his 1st of the year.

Boston used the hitting of Kurt Alexander to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a grand slam home run in the top of the third inning to put the Aeros on top, 4-1. For the game, Alexander had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"What's not to like about a win?" said Alexander.

Jordan Arroyo(R, 6-4 3.71) - Austin Roy(R, 10-14 3.97) the day after tomorrow. Maybe we get a better pitching performance?

Well, that was anticlimactic. A great show, full Olympic Stadium, the rookies getting their hits in early… and Danny and Herzer blowing up on bad pitching and errors.
