Kessler Helps Aeros Win on Opening Day, 9-6
The
Montreal Expos inaugurated the 2023 campaign with a disappointing 9-6 loss to the
Boston Aeros at Olympic Stadium.
Boston shortstop
Tim Kessler had a big impact on the outcome. He was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The 2022 EL Gold Glover is coming off a .281-17-65 .741OPS 5.5WAR year.
Picking up the win was

Manny Rodriguez had 3 ribbies while helping his team defeat the
Montreal Expos, 11-5.

Jordan Arroyo earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0.
Austin Roy suffered the loss. The defeat makes

"This was one of those games you love to be a part of," said
Rodriguez. He was 3-5 with 3RBI, 3 runs scored and two doubles for the day.
Savion Smith drove in one run for
Boston. The 26-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the sixth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off
Austin Roy. It was his 1st RBI of the season.

The
Montreal Expos and
Boston Aeros lit up the scoreboard.
The
Montreal Expos besoiled an otherwise fine performance by
Boston second baseman
Ruben Barrales by beating the
Aeros, 12-8, at Olympic Stadium.
Barrales went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The 2021 EL Silver Slugger coming off a injury plagued .296-5-18 .782OPS 2.0WAR year.
Boston is 2-1 after the loss.
Montreal took the lead, 11-8, on
Jordan Chavis's 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off
Boston pitcher
Tim Mayer in the bottom of the eighth.
