There's gray area all over this. Both X and Y could be wrong and be the problem, particularly these days. You are right, of course, in your slant but I go back to the basics where everyone is courteous to everybody, or should try to be. That is the basis of sportsmanship.

What is discourteous about celebrating reaching a hard earned goal? Why does any potential hurt feelings trump her feelings of elation? What makes their wishes more important than hers?
