IRL, shifts work, which is basically how it translates in PT, so you should use them a lot.
Hit & Run, for runners getting extra bases and avoiding double plays, is good for high contact/high avoid k/low eye players. Eye is a big factor in increasing pitch counts, so I would keep h&r low for high eye players. A lot of my rosters in PT25 have no players with h&r above the 1st notch on the slider.
Using Pitch Around is kind of a sliding scale between: high stuff/low control = don't pitch around, low stuff/high control = do pitch around. You don't want to cause a ton of walks by overdoing it.
