ESPN's 10 most unbreakable NCAAF records

ESPN's 10 most unbreakable NCAAF records

I disagree w/OU's win streak (remarkable how often Oklahoma is on this list) being the most unbreakable. I would put Barry Sanders above that mark.

The season now lasts 16 games (12 regular, conf title, 3 playoff games). So is it out of the realm of possibility that a school wins, say, the final 8 of their season, puts up back to back unbeaten titles, then wins the 1st 8 the 4th year before losing? That is hard, sure. But doable. Clemson from Nov 2014 to Dec 2019 lost just 4 games. 45-40 to Bama in a title game, one point to Pitt, 3 to Syracuse & by 18 to the Tide. 72-4. Take away the Bama blowout, they were 9 points from a 75 game win streak.

Barry's season is like looking @ Wilt Chamberlain's 50ppg season. The numbers look mythical. If a RB were to take all 16 games to break his record, he would have to avg 179 yds on the ground. Sanders got his total in only 12 games. With the way the NFL treats RB's now, you'd need............

1. A durable super talented player who wants to be a RB
2. A coach that wants to run the ball 40+ times, not pass it
3. A team talented enough to win despite not employing a "pro" offense
4. A schedule of opponents who get run over despite putting 8-9 in the box

The way the game is now, I just don't see it.
