Week 12: 3 vs Portland Bears(23-44), 3 vs New York Mets(40-27)

June 12th

Portland Upended by Montreal, 6-2

Montreal picked up a win at Olympic Stadium, bumping off the Portland Bears, 6-2. Pitcher Marty Murrietta was a major reason the Expos emerged victorious.

"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Murrietta. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win." The Expos improved their record to 42-25 with the win over Portland.

James Slowik was 1 for 4. He drove in 2 runs for Montreal. The 25-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off Ricky Perez. It was his 14th hit of the season. The utility player is batting .264-0-10 .624OPS -0.1WAR in 17 games.

The Mets showed us our limitations… we struggle against other contenders and are down to a 1 game lead in the division. More jolly good news? Adam Rudolph’s scouting report was just updated and it told us something that we already feared. His velocity is down a couple of miles and stamina is not what it used to be, putting him down to a 2.5* quality reliever…
