Cards news: Nov. 28 -- Team declines option on RHP Sonny Gray
The St. Louis Cardinals have decided not to bring back Sonny Gray for the final year of his four-year contract.
Last season, the 37-year-old Gray was limited to 24 starts during which he went 6-7 with a 3.65 ERA.
In his three seasons with the Cardinals, Gray was 32-26 with a 3.44 ERA in 86 starts.
Gray was to earn $30 million in his final season in St. Louis.
The acquisition of starting pitcher Brandon Pfaadt from the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier this off-season probably played into the decision.
