J.P. Carrillo of Northwest Arkansas had an award-winning September as he took home the Texas League Pitcher of the Month award.
"He told me once people used to make fun of the way he pitches," Carrillo's pitching coach told reporters. "There wasn't anybody laughing in September except for J.P.."
Carrillo was all business when he took the mound though, collecting a 3-0 record in 4 starts. He struck out 31 batters in 27.2 innings and kept opponents to a .204 batting average.
Carrillo has made 11 starts so far this year and put up a 9-0 won-lost record with a 1.99 ERA. In 77 innings he has allowed 57 hits, walked 18 and struck out 73.
