With the last pick of the round, I took 1B Mario Valdez who will start in rookie ball. In the 2nd round we grabbed 20-year old P Paul Wilson who will start in AA. We once again wanted to get a wide pool of positions drafted to start building up a system.
In the rule 5 draft, we took a shot and took 20 year old pitcher Jon Barnes from the Mets. He was in rookie ball last year but was ranked a 3 or 4 star prospect, so I will give him a chance to be the last arm in the bullpen to hide him this year and see if he develops. He had 81 K's in 76 innings in his 1st year in pro ball with a 3.56 ERA in 14 starts.
