Opening Day Assault, SNHU Scores 26 on Tufts
The 2316 season is off to a good start for the Southern New Hampshire University Penmen. The hometown Penmen dumped the Tufts University Jumbos, 26-5, at Penmen Field. Reece Cullen spearheaded the win. He went 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Devon Johnson went 5 innings for SNHU to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 5 runs. He scattered 12 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 5. His record improves to 1-0. Lamar Osu got credit for the save for SNHU. It was his 1st of the year.
SNHU right fielder Craig Durand delivered a 3-run home run in the bottom of the second. Overall, he went 4 for 5, picking up 1 home run, 2 singles, and 1 double. He scored 3 runs and knocked in 5.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Durand, "one at-bat at a time."
