A bad month for the Giants as they drop 3 games back from the playoffs. The NL West remains incredibly competitive with the Rockies and the Padres holding Wild Card spots and the Dodgers in last place in the division only 4.5 G back from the Padres. They are the last team with real aspirations so it is five teams for the last place, the Rockies and the Nationals comfortably ahead of the rest.

August 17th was a big day as Stewart’s patience with the underperforming bullpen came to a head. Andres Castro was released and sent back to the Avalanche, Jesu Celedon was optioned back to Sacramento and Rob Clauss was DFA. 2052 Trade Acquisition Dan Caines, 2047 19th round Darron Dougherty, and MiL FA Germão Ezra all earned their first call ups in an attempt to jump start the team.
