Many contend it's somehow more realistic the new way, I don't think that argument's worth having anymore, we merely hoped it reverted by turning off the combine (it didn't before and the board stated that was a bug). It's wholly unrelated to development and should be easy to tell in one playthrough (hoping to check asap).
No, I did not say "development". I was talking about the combine, like he was, and I said "develop" as in how the scouting accuracies would "develop", or progress if you prefer that word, from pool day to combine day to after the combine to draft day. For example, in some of my tests a lot of the players would have high or very high accuracies on the day the pool was announced which left very little room for them to progress. And in other tests there'd be a wide distribution of accuracies on pool day, as one might more expect, and then they did have some room to progress. I wasn't at all testing development of ratings like contact or stuff or any of that, I was only testing the scouting accuracies.

As for why I was testing several years for each sim, what I was looking for was if the distributions would change over time from one draft class to another like I thought they might. And IMO they did, but that's debatable.

I can't testify to what happened before as I only started my tests with build 65. But from what I saw, players developed as long as you weren't "acting as". I don't know if what others have said is true or not (who knows, maybe something has changed in OOTP26 since they ran their tests), but I saw what I saw. If you're in beta you can look at my thread there.

The whole reason why I did the tests I did (and believe me, I would have much rather not have spent nearly a week of my free time doing them) was because I was seeing these threads and I thought, "are they true? should I skip OOTP26?". And the answer to me now is, "no, they're not true". Or at least they're no longer true. Now don't get me wrong, I've got plenty of other gripes with the combine, but as for whether one should not upgrade to OOTP26 due to the combine, no, that's not a concern for me any longer.

And if people don't want to believe me, that's fine, they can test it themselves. I detailed how in my last post and if someone needs further help I'll try to give it.
