Expos 4-2 Winners Over Pittsburgh

Led by Dave Grochowski, the Montreal Expos defeated the Pittsburgh Kings, 4-2. Grochowski went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Expos. Today's win puts Montreal at 69-38, while Pittsburgh falls to 52-55.

"This is a great group to be a part of, and it's a big win for us," Grochowski told the Montreal Herald. The 2x All-Star now has tied his home run total from last year already, batting .347-20-78 .995OPS 3.3WAR in 96 games.

2-1 Kings Win Avoids Sweep

Pittsburgh Kings starter Brent Perino pitched a strong game against the Montreal Expos at PMC Park, leading the Kings to victory, 2-1. He worked 6.2 innings of 1-run ball and left the game with a 1-1 tie.

"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Perino. After today's action, Pittsburgh sits at 53-55, while Montreal falls to 69-39.

Pittsburgh took a 2-1 lead on Angelo Paima's 15th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Paima hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Montreal pitcher Austin Williams visibly frustrated. The 7th rounder in 2015 is batting .261-19-59 .817OPS 1.2WAR in 95 games.

Blue Jays Pull Out Late-Game Win, 3-2

The Toronto Blue Jays and Montreal Expos played an entertaining game for Olympic Stadium patrons.

The Toronto Blue Jays had to overcome a good performance from Montreal pitcher Sam Griffin to claim a 3-2 win at Olympic Stadium. Griffin went 7.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. The 4th-place Blue Jays have won 5 consecutive games.

Mike Massie, who finished 5th in the EL in runs with 106 in 2019, helped out the Toronto cause in the top of the eighth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the designated hitter was 1-3 with a walk. The 2019 EL MvP is batting .296-16-57 .813OPS 0.5WAR in 92 games.

Blue Jays Lose to Expos Walk-Off

The Montreal Expos defeated the Toronto Blue Jays, 6-5, in part because of catcher Gabriel Cervantes. Cervantes went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times for the Expos.

Reliever Paul Ide picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. Jeff Martinelli, who is tied for 7th in the EL in holds with 11, took the loss. The Expos improved their record to 70-40 with the win over Toronto. The 28-year old is batting .270-12-32 .789OPS 2.3WAR in 81 games.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Montreal pinch hitter Robby Weltzer, facing Jeff Martinelli, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Expos the 6-5 win.

"Nice to tuck this win away," said Weltzer.

Tim Jones(R, 1-2 6.92) - Juan Miranda(R, 7-6 4.44) tomorrow. Not a great rookie season.

Blue Jays Take Series with 5-4 Win

Harley Wilson snagged the win in relief. He goes to 3-0 on the season. Juan Miranda suffered the loss. Manny Ayala earned his 19th save in 24 chances.

Toronto used the timely hitting of Mike Massie to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Blue Jays on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Massie. "And not try to do too much." He is batting .295-16-59 .808OPS 0.4WAR in 94 games.
