Bearcats Score Late to Nip Expos, 6-5

Salt Lake City beat Montreal at Bearcats Park, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to first baseman Fernando Rodriguez. He went 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times. The winner was Salt Lake City reliever Tim Ford, now 2-2. The loser was Paul Ide. With the win over Montreal, the Bearcats improved to 55-65.

The Bearcats were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 30-year old left fielder Alex Quinones landed a big blow. He turned a first pitch splitter from Paul Ide into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Bearcats Park denizens into a frenzy and sent the Bearcats home with a thrilling 6-5 win.

"The crowd went nuts," Quinones said.
