Our scout traveled through the DR this past week, where he sized up prospects for the organization and came across third baseman Emilio Rodriguez quite by accident. The 16-year-old Emilio Rodriguez is a big 6-foot-2, 200-pound third baseman from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. This young man possesses a very good hitting tool. He has the potential for average strike zone recognition. Rodriguez is on the bubble for holding down a role in the majors. He has been assigned to the international complex. Looking forward to seeing the development of our kids once they come out of the IC. I hope we can pull some great talent there in teh next few years!

So, I’ve overspent the available budget by close to $3MIL dollars

but there’s about that left in the extension pot, so it’s break even as far as I’m concerned.

Our series opens in 3 days, and we just need to get this season started.

I’ll worry about the budget when I get my mid-year review with the owner in late June or July. I may have to make some salary decisions then or closer to the trade deadline.

Josh Taylor is eligible to come off the IL, but I’m sending him to minors rehab to see where he’s at. I don’t need to mess with the lineups or bullpen now, not even seeing anyone work in their positions yet.
