Chicago Slaps 3-2 Loss on Montreal

The Chicago Rangers picked up a win at Olympic Stadium, courtesy of Carlos Botello. The right-hander helped his team stop the Montreal Expos, 3-2. Chicago is now 66-67, Montreal 81-51.

"I felt great. Had good rhythm with my mechanics," said Botello.

Chicago used a well-timed hit by Edwin Jimenez to capture the win. The center fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Rangers ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important. The 2x All-Star is batting .280-3-29 .735OPS 51/54SB 1.7WAR in 95 games.

Expose Dispose of Rangers, 8-4

The Montreal Expos cut down the Chicago Rangers by the score of 8-4, with the largest share of the credit going to first baseman Dave Grochowski. Grochowski went 4-5 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Expos.

Grochowski told a Montreal Herald reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win. The 2x All-Star is batting .336-24-94 .967OPS 3.8WAR in 121 games.

Austin Roy, the winning pitcher, is now 15-5. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits, while fanning 6 and walking 2. Montreal is now 82-51. Chicago is 66-68.

Montreal designated hitter Matt Talbert contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a sinker to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 132nd hit of the season and put the Expos ahead, 6-2.

Offense! Steen is pretty washed up at age 31 it seems. Perez is only hobbling a bit, but can hit, so no DL stint.

Yoshimura Schools Montreal in 3-0 Chicago Triumph

The Chicago Rangers picked up a win at Olympic Stadium, knocking off the Montreal Expos, 3-0. Starting pitcher Reizo Yoshimura was a big reason why. Austin Berry was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 24 of 33 save opportunities. The Rangers improved their record to 67-68 by beating Montreal.

Yoshimura delivered a quality start for Chicago. The 5-foot-11 right-hander allowed no earned runs on 3 hits over 7.1 innings of work.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Chicago manager Brett Morse said.

Marty Murrietta(R, 7-6 3.58) - Kyle McCall(R, 7-9 5.13) the day after tomorrow. Was with TOR last year and pretty good there.
