Bolt Handle Montreal, Snag 8-4 Win

The Memphis Bolts powered past the Montreal Expos, 8-4, at Bolts Grounds. Brian Clinton went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk, to lead the charge. Kyle McCall, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 8-9. Memphis is now 66-70, while Montreal is 82-53.

John Foley had a big 3-run home run for the Bolts in the bottom of the second inning. With Memphis leading 3-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a fastball from Marty Murrietta, who is tied for 10th in the EL in quality starts with 13, and punished it. The result was his 15th home run of the season, which put the Bolts on top, 6-0.

"We did more than enough to get the win," said Foley. The 2x Silver Slugger is batting .257-15-56 .775OPS 0.5WAR in 99 games.

That was not good enough. An error by Hernandez started the slide for Murrietta and he never recovered.

Multi HR-Game for Grochowski in 7-6 Win

A 5-RBI performance from Dave Grochowski, who leads the EL with a .595 slugging percentage, helped the Montreal Expos beat the Memphis Bolts, 7-6. Montreal reliever Dustin Jenkins picked up the win to move to 5-1. Alfonso de Jesus suffered the loss. After today's action, Montreal sits at 83-53, while Memphis falls to 66-71.

Grochowski had an important at-bat with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the eighth, when he hit a 3-run home run. The Expos went on to win.

Montreal won the game in part because of Matt Talbert. The designated hitter ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Expos ahead, 3-1. For the game, Talbert had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats. He is batting .278-27-77 .847OPS 1.8WAR in 131 games.

Coming up, two series against divisional rivals that have dropped out of the playoff race. If Ide serves up a grand slam to his former team, I’ll kill him.
