90TH IPA ALL-STAR CLASSIC SET FOR NEXT TUESDAY IN VALMARA
The Islandian Pro Alliance best in class have been acclaimed for the 90th IPA All-Star Game. Over 50 of the finest players will get their chance to shine next week at War Memorial Stadium in Valmara, the home of the reigning Pro Cup champion Vipers. LaGrange's 38-year-old first baseman Tory Swinnerton will pace the Ruthlandian Union All-Stars. This season he is enjoying a remarkable career rejuvenation and will be making his 10th appearance. He will be joined by 4-time All-Stars Lee Drummond of Rocky Rapids and Ben Atcheson of Stoner and 3-time honorees Willie Collingham and Thomas Tate, both from Forest City. The Tycobbian Union All-Stars will be headed up by White River's Chris Savallas. He is a 6-time All-Star, the first 5 years were with Ancona in the Ruthlandian Union. At the age of 36 he is leading the Rascals to a fine season after being traded. They are leading the TU North at midyear. Summerland's Hennie Hendriks is appearing for his 4th All-Star Classic, while Rolling Hills' Terrence Stonich has been chosen 3 times.
The Forest City Firebirds placed 6 All-Stars on the Ruthlandian Union, while Valmara and LaGrange each had 4 players selected. Topping the Tycobbian Union were 4 All-Stars from White River and Summerland. Tuckanarra had 3 players honored.
Both the RU All-Stars and the TU All-Stars have 3 rookies each. Braydon Glenn of San Dimas, Jan Dijkman of Claxton and Lenny Davis of Sugar Valley made the Ruthlandian Stars in their first season in the IPA. The Tycobbian Stars will feature league newcomers Gary Glanville of Summerland, Satchell Pike of White River and Hot Rod Bolling of Rolling Hills.
