Well, that was not the result I was hoping for when I pulled off the trade to acquire front-line starting pitching. On a day that saw Logan Gilbert get roughed up, the visiting Seattle Mariners (49-61) topped the Boston Red Sox (59-49) by a 5 to 4 score.

The Mariners turned to pitcher George Kirby (8-9) and he did not disappoint. In picking up the win, Kirby allowed 3 earned runs on 10 hits and 3 walks while striking out 10 in 8 innings of play; Game Score 60. While Andres Munoz (SV 20) was a little rocky in the closer role today (permitted 1 earned run on 2 hits) he nonetheless kept things in line for the team. Leading the way at the plate were Dominic Canzone (2 for 5, Double, 2 Runs), Jorge Polanco (1 for 3, Double, Run, 2 RBI, Walk, Stolen Base), and Cal Raleigh (1 for 4, Homerun, Run, 2 RBI).

As noted above, Logan Gilbert (6-11) was tagged with the loss after he surrendered 5 earned runs on 9 hits and 1 walk while striking out 8 in 7 innings of work; Game Score 46. Garrett Cleavinger tossed 2 innings of scoreless relief. The Red Sox were led at the plate by Jarren Duran (2 for 4, Homerun, 2 Runs, 2 RBI), Masataka Yoshida (2 for 5, Triple, Run, RBI), and Ceddanne Rafaela (2 for 4, Double, Run).
