Game Summary – June 2nd – Royals Take Down Padres, 3-2
The Kansas City Royals had to overcome a fine effort from San Diego pitcher Joe Musgrove to win, 3-2, at Kauffman Stadium. Musgrove went 7.2 innings and allowed 3 runs. Kansas City is now 27-34. San Diego is 36-26. Had Drew Waters not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Waters hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2 in favor of the Royals.
"I was a little disappointed," said San Diego manager Mike Shildt. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
We put together a good run towards the end to get this win. I'm proud of how we got it done tonight! Brady Singer pitched a good game tonight, too, which is refreshing. It's nice to come out of this series on the winning side.
