Cards news: July 27 -- OF Charles McAdoo acquired from Toronto for SP Savacool and minor leaguer
The St. Louis Cardinals have acquired outfielder Charles McAdoo from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for starting pitcher Jason Savacool and minor league right-hander Jose Andujar.
McAdoo, 26, reached the majors in 2025 after being drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 13th round of the 2023 draft before being traded to the Blue Jays in 2024.
This season, McAdoo has played in 94 games/89 starts during which he has hit .262 with 11 home runs and 47 RBIs. He also has 22 steals.
For his career, in 409 games/342 starts, McAdoo is a .260 hitter with 39 home runs, 171 RBIs and 82 steals.
The 26-year-old Savacool just came off the injured list after undergoing Tommy John Surgery in September of 2027.
In 2027, Savacool made 27 starts for the Cardinals going 7-10 with a 4.26 ERA.
Overall, Savacool is 10-12 with a 3.92 ERA in 39 starts in the majors.
At 17 years old, Andujar is a very young prospect.
He has spent 2028 in the Dominican Rookie League where he has made nine starts and gone 2-2 with a 5.35 ERA.
