Rockies Wrap Up April on the Road

The Colorado Rockies closed out April on a high note. Traveling to St. Louis, Florida, and Chicago the Rockies came away with 4-2 record and ending the month winning four in a row and improving their record to 13-11 on the season.

St. Louis Cardinals Series (0-2)
Game 1: Cardinals Earn 10-5 Home Win
The Rockies fell 10-5 in the opener. Despite a strong offensive effort that included home runs from Torey Lovullo, Jacob Brumfield, and B.J. Surhoff, the Cardinals' offense proved too much, with Felix Jones driving in three runs. Roger McDowell took the loss for Colorado.

Game 2: Cardinals Stay Hot, Beat the Rockies 5-3
St. Louis continued their winning ways with a 5-3 victory. Bryn Smith pitched effectively for the Cardinals, and Ozzie Smith broke a late tie with a sacrifice fly. For the Rockies, Sandy Alomar Jr. hit his second home run of the season.

Florida Marlins Series (2-0)
Game 1: Rockies Hand Florida 10-6 Loss
Colorado's offense went off for 10 runs in a 10-6 win. Jacob Brumfield was the standout, going 4-for-5 with four singles and two RBI. Gil Heredia earned the win for the Rockies.

Game 2: Florida Loses, 2-1, to Colorado in 10 Innings
In a tight extra-inning affair, the Rockies pulled out a 2-1 victory. Armando Reynoso delivered an excellent performance, pitching 8 innings allowing only one run. B.J. Surhoff hit the go-ahead RBI single in the top of the 10th. Jack Armstrong picked up the win in relief, and Chuck Finley earned his first save.

Chicago Cubs Series (2-0)
The month of April concluded with the first two games of a three game set in Chicago against the Cubs.

Game 1: Rockies Win at Chicago 5-3
The Rockies took the first game in a rain-shortened contest 5-3. Jerry Browne was a key contributor with two hits and two RBI, including a two-run single that gave Colorado the lead. Darryl Kile earned the win, pitching five innings. Sandy Alomar Jr. added his third home run of the season.

Game 2: Berroa 4-for-6, Leads Rockies to Win
Colorado ended the month on a high note with a thrilling 10-9 victory. Geronimo Berroa had a monster game, going 4-for-6 with a double and a home run, driving in three runs. The Rockies' offense collected 15 hits in total, securing a crucial road win. Chuck Finley earned his second save.
