MLB news: Sept. 25 -- Mets will be a wild card
Defeating the Philadelphia Phillies 6-3, the New York Mets have clinched a wild-card berth in the National League playoffs.
At 89-67, the Mets trail the Atlanta Braves by eight games in the NL East Division with six games left in the season.
The playoff berth is the fourth in the last five years for New York.
The Mets last reached the World Series in 2015, losing to the Kansas City Royals.
New York's last won the World Series in 1986, defeating the Boston Red Sox in seven games.
