Trying to bounce back. Story of this season.

Today the Cubs are pitching Randy Johnson (9-12, 3.57). (Back to back future Hall of Famers).

The Giants have Rick Sutcliffe (7-11, 3.68).

I am hitting seventh.

I took care of a Mark Grace grounder for the 2nd out in the bottom of the 1st.

I then handled a Brian Jordan grounder for the final out in the 2nd.

I led off the 3rd by taking a walk.
Stolen base #67.
I took 3rd on a Timothy McKercher groundout.
I was thrown out trying to score on a fly ball by Rick.

I took care of a Johnson grounder to end the 4th.

I came up in the 5th with one out, Jerry Browne on 2nd, and Craig Grebeck on 1st. I flew out to Paul O'Neill in right. Jerry went to 3rd.

Sigh. Two days in a row.
The Cubs got on the board in the 6th when Rick walked in a run.

Cubs lead 1-0

I came up in the 7th with two out and Jerry on 2nd. I grounded out to Grace at 1st.

I returned the favour, catching a Grace liner for the 1st out in the bottom of the 7th.

With one out and one on, Matt brought in Bryan Hickerson.

He got his outs and then Mark Ross was brought in for the 8th.

I came up in the top of the 9th with two out, Ryan Klesko on 2nd, and Craig on 1st. Mitch Williams was pitching.

Slider outside. 1-0
Slider hit down the right field line, but it went foul. 1-1
Another slider outside. 2-1
Strike catches the corner. 2-2
I single up the middle, scoring Ryan and tying the game!
After the throw, Craig and I ended up both in scoring position, but we were left there.

Game tied 1-1

Jeff Russell took the ball for us in the bottom of the 9th.
Alan Cockrell took over behind the plate on a double switch.

An error. A walk. A sac bunt. An intentional walk. A wild pitch.

We lost, 2-1.

I went 1 for 3 with a single, a walk, an RBI, and a stolen base.

After the game we found out that Timothy McKercher had been optioned to Phoenix. Jason McFarlin was called up.

McFarlin is a 22 your old who has never been in the Bigs before. Someone to carry my bags.
