Asselin K’s 10 En Route to 2-0 Expos Win
The
Montreal Expos topped the
Houston Astros, 2-0, in Eastern League action at Olympic Stadium. The standout performance belonged to
Montreal pitcher and Brownsville, Texas, native
Brett Asselin. The win brings the
Expos to 10-7, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
Houston had little success against
Asselin and his changeup.
Asselin tossed 104 pitches over 7 innings for the
Expos.
"It was a solid team effort," said
Asselin after the game. Both runs were scored, and in fact, driven in by
Tyler Dean who hit two solo home runs today.

Another Wild Walkoff Wins it of Montreal, 8-7, over Astros
Houston first baseman
Sean Thomason had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win.
Thomason went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2, even as
Montreal beat the
Astros, 8-7. The
Astros fall to 7-11 and continue their lackluster start to the 2024 season.
Gabriel Cervantes was the walk-off hero for
Montreal. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the
Expos catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"It feels good, just a great win all around,"
Cervantes said after the game. The 28-year old is batting .281-2-7 .795OPS 0.4WAR in 16 games.
