The Padres came to town as King tried to become the 2nd player to ever reach a 50-game hitting streak. The Padres sent Brian Young, 14 game winner for them last year to try to stop it.
After a 2-out Baerga single in the first, King hit a rope towards right, but Walt Weiss made a diving play to get King at 1st to end the inning.
After a Frias homer in the 2nd, King came up to lead off the 4th up 1-0 and lined a 2-2 fastball right back up the middle for a single and a 50 game hitting streak.
50 games!!!!!
Our bullpen lost another lead. The bullpen era is 11th while our starters are 1st. We need to find a solution. Fortunately, Baerga knocked in a run in the bottom of the 10th to send us to 13-7 and 1st place in the east.
