Astros Pick Up 6-4 Win Against Montreal
Houston parlayed a decent outing from starter
Jessie Dittus into a solid win over the
Montreal Expos. The final score was 6-4. The winner was
Dittus. He threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was
Juan Miranda.
Houston goes to 9-16.
Houston took advantage of an error in the bottom of the sixth inning. The game was tied, 3-3, when
Ed Bigalow hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put the
Astros in front, 5-3.
"It's a long season," said
Bigalow. "We'll keep working to improve." The veteran pinch-hit in this spot, batting only .176 off the bench.

Houston pitcher
Orlando Turrietta did his part in helping his team beat the
Montreal Expos, 7-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage.
Turrietta yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 0, and struck out 10. His record improves to 1-2.
Montreal falls to 14-12.
The
Astros picked up the win with a combination of good hitting and good pitching.
"Nice win for us," said
Turrietta. "Now we'll go after the next one." Not going after the next one will be

Dan Hinton. The 25-year old left the game early and was quickly diagnosed with a
torn rotator cuff 14 months .

Expos Win 3-2 Walk-Off
Brett Asselin, the 11th overall pick in the 2020 draft, was locked in. The left-hander led the
Montreal Expos to a 3-2 win against the
Los Angeles Angels at Olympic Stadium. The triumph makes
Montreal 15-12, as the team begins another long trek toward the playoffs in 2024.
The
Expos got a clutch hit from catcher
Gabriel Cervantes. In the bottom of the 13th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the
Expos. The 28-year old was 2-2 with an RBI, entering the game in the 11t.
"
Brett was really on it," said
Montreal manager Aaron McCreery. "He's got a feel for playing with the hitter front-to-back, side-to-side."

The
Los Angeles Angels defeated the
Montreal Expos, 5-4. Doing his part was first baseman
Mike Meckes, who went 2-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. With the loss,
Montreal sinks to 15-13.
With
Los Angeles leading 1-0 in the top of the fifth,
Meckes hit a sinker from
Sam Griffin for a 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the
Angels ahead, 4-0.
"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said
Meckes. The 2017 1st rounder is batting .212-2-9 .555OPS -0.2WAR.
