September 12th, 1992
I am still on a high after my homer yesterday.
Today the Dodgers are pitching Andy Ashby (0-1, 2.02).
The Giants are going with Charlie Vinson Jr. (8-13, 3.36).
I am hitting 5th.
I made a great play on a Kent Hrbek grounder for the final out in the 1st.
I came up in the 2nd with Ryan Klesko on 1st. While I was at the plate, Ryan went to 2nd on a wild pitch. Then I walked.
Ryan scored and I went to 2nd on a Tim Naehring single.
Jesse Barfield hit into a double play as I moved to 3rd.
I was stranded.
Giants lead 1-0
I took care of an Ashby grounder for the 2nd out in the bottom of the 3rd.
Then I did the same to Pat Listach for the 3rd out.
Just like in the 2nd, I came up in the 4th with Ryan on 1st. This time I flew out to Chili Davis in left.
I handled another Ashby grounder for the 2nd out in the bottom of the 5th.
But then Doug Descenz scored on a Listach single.
Game tied 1-1
In the 6th I came up yet again with Ryan on 1st and none out, but this time Ryan was lifted for a pinch runner, Jason McFarlin.
I singled to left and went to 3rd as they unsuccessfully tried to nail Jason at 3rd.
Jason scored on a sac fly by Tim.
With two out that gave Timothy McKercher an intentional walk. It worked, as they struck out Charlie.
Giants lead 2-1
Aaron Morris took over at 1st.
In the bottom of the inning, Gary Sheffield scored on a single by Davis.
Then Kent Hrbek scored on a Dascenzo single.
Davis, Dascenzo, and pinch hitter Paul Sorrento all scored on a bases-clearing double by Listach.
Matt brought in Mike Perez to pitch after that.
I handled a Phil Plantier grounder to end the inning.
Dodgers lead 6-2
I caught a Shawn Manuel liner for the 2nd out in the bottom of the 7th.
I came up with one out in the 8th. Jeff Parrett was pitching. I flew out to Dascenzo in centre.
Bobby Thigpen took the ball for us in the bottom of the 8th.
Listach hit one to me but I cut down pinch hitter Bernard Gilkey when he made an ill-advised attempt to go from 2nd to 3rd on a non-force.
We still lost.
I went 1 for 3 with a single and a walk.
