MLB news: Sept. 21 -- White Sox earn third straight postseason berth
With a 6-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers, the Chicago White Sox assured themselves they will be in the American League playoffs for the third consecutive season.
The White Sox (85-69) lead the second-place Tigers by 4.5 games in the American League Central Division with eight games left in the season.
Chicago trails both Baltimore and the Los Angeles Angels by 1.5 games for the best record in the AL.
The White Sox last made the World Series in 2027, when they lost to the Colorado Rockies.
The last World Series title for Chicago came back in 2005 when they swept the Houston Astros.
