The Shires felt good coming into the final stretch with Othani and Aldegheri, 2 of the top candidates for the West's CYA, and things were looking great early on.
Going into the bottom of the 6th, the game was still scoreless due to Ohtani's 2-hit dominance and StL hitting into inning-ending DPs in the first 2 innings.
Ohntani walked Diaz to leadoff the inning, and then plunked the next batter Cowser, and then walked Collier, before Justin Crawford doubled down the 1st base line, clearing the bases. Sacramento would tack on an insurance run in the 8th, but it did not factor in as reliever Troy Melton was outstanding in relief, picking up the win in relief of Schwellenbach, who pitched 5 shutout innings.
