MLB news: Sept. 28 -- White Sox rule the American League Central Division
Despite having the day off, the Chicago White Sox have wrapped up their second American League Central Division title in three seasons by virtue of a Detroit Tigers 5-4 loss to the Atlanta Braves.
The White Sox (86-73) lead the second-place Tigers by four games with three contests left in the regular season.
This will be the third straight postseason appearance for Chicago, who was a wild card a year ago.
The White Sox reached the World Series in 2027, but lost to the Colorado Rockies.
Their last World Series title came in 2005, when they swept the Houston Astros.
