MLB news: Sept. 30 -- Rockies assure themselves a place in October
With a 9-0 victory over the San Francisco Giants, the Colorado Rockies have clinched a third straight trip to the National League playoffs.
At 86-75, a piece of the National League West Division title isn't out of the question either as the Rockies and San Diego Padres are tied for second only a game behind the first-place Arizona Diamondbacks with only the final game of the regular season left to play.
The Padres and Diamondbacks will face off today in Glendale, Ariz. to determine how the division will play out.
Colorado last reached the World Series in 2027, when it defeated the Chicago White Sox for the only title in franchise history.
