MLB news: Oct. 1 -- Final AL Wild-Card berth goes to Minnesota
With a 2-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals, the Minnesota Twins have garnered the final spot in the American League postseason field.
With that win, theTwins (80-82) edged out the Cleveland Indians for that last wild card.
Minnesota finished in third place in the American League Central Division, 7.5 games behind the first-place Chicago White Sox.
The Twins are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2025. They last reached the World Series in 1991, when they defeated the Atlanta Braves in seven games.
