MLB news: Oct. 1 -- Diamondbacks down Padres to claim another NL West title
With a 6-5 win over the San Diego Padres, the Arizona Diamondbacks claimed their third straight National League West Division title and their fourth in the past five years.
The D'backs (88-74), who are in the postseason for the fourth consecutive season, finished a game ahead of the second-place Colorado Rockies in the division and two games in front of San Diego.
Arizona reached the World Series in 2023, when it lost to the Texas Rangers.
A seven-game win over the New York Yankees in 2001 provided the D'backs with the only World Series title in franchise history.
