Cards news: Dec. 29 -- RHP Evan Phillps agrees to contract
The St. Louis Cardinals have announced the signing of right-handed relief pitcher Evan Phillips to a two-year contract.
The deal is worth $11.6 million, but includes a team buyout for the 2029 season.
Phillips, 35, split the 2029 season between Texas and Arizona.
He got into 50 games going 6-1 with five saves and a 4.33 ERA.
Phillips broke into the majors with the Orioles in 2018.
Since that time, he also has pitched for the Dodgers, Tampa Bay, the Dodgers again, the Cubs, Phillies and then the Rangers and D'backs.
In 518 appearances, just one of them a start, he has gone 38-33 with 109 saves and a 3.77 ERA.
