Cards news: February 17 - LHP Drew Rom returns after being traded last season

The St. Louis Cardinals have announced the signing of left-handed pitcher Drew Rom to a free-agent contract worth $5,040,000.
Rom, 30, came up through the Cardinals system and broke into the majors in 2023.
From then until July of last season, he pitched out of the Cardinals bullpen.
In 2029, he got into 47 games for St. Louis going 8-1 with one save and a 3.55 ERA.
Over his career with the Cardinals, he has worked in 298 games/eight starts while going 21-13 with 10 saves and a 3.88.
With free agency looming, St. Louis traded Rom to the Washington Nationals for outfielder Josh Busch and starting pitcher Alfredo Lopez.
Rom pitched in 20 games for Washington, starting seven, while going 2-3 with one save and a 3.41 ERA.
He then moved into free agency and decided he wanted to come back to St. Louis.
