Not a great start (in more ways than one)...
Jorge Barraza may have been one of the best pitchers in baseball over the second half of the season, but his playoff outings this year have been iffy and today he was hit for 4 runs in the first inning as the Rays dropped the World Series opener at Publix Park. 3 of those runs came on an inside-the-park homer by Colorado's Kaden Spearman, as it was one thing after another in the opening frame. Meanwhile the Rays' bats were put in the deep freeze by Eric Saenz, a lefty who had his way especially against the Rays top lefty hitters (Dominguez, Avalos, Bland and Aponte). But even their top RH bat, Gonzales, managed to fan 3 times and leave 6 men on base. Fortunately it's a 7-game series and Dave Rose will try to get them even before they head to the thin air of Denver.
