September 19th, 1992
We won the first game against our downcast rivals. Let's go for #2.
Today the Dodgers are pitching Chris Haney (12-11, 3.97).
The Giants have John Burkett (9-19, 3.44).
I am hitting seventh.
We opened the scoring int he bottom of the 1st when Antonio Martinez crossed on a Ruben Sierra single.
Giants lead 1-0
I led off in the 2nd by lining a fastball into left for a single.
John moved me to 2nd with a sac bunt, but it was two out.
I was left there.
The 3rd went very well for us.
Antonio singled.
Ruben singled.
Tim Naehring singled to load the bases.
Jerry Browne doubled, scoring Antonio and Ruben.
Craig flew out.
I singled, scoring Tim and Jerry. (No, not TOM, Tim.)
Giants lead 5-0
In the 4th, Shawn Manuel scored on a double by reliever, Pedro Borbon.
Giants lead 5-1
I got the 1st out in the 5th, off a Gary Sheffield grounder.
I came up in the bottom of the 5th, facing Borbon, with two out and Tim on 1st. I walked.
We were left on.
Joe Boever took the ball for us in the 7th.
I came up in the bottom of the inning, with two outs, Tim on 2nd, and Jerry on 1st. Lee Smith was now the pitcher. I grounded out to Manuel at 2nd.
Jeff Russell came in for the 9th. Not a save situation, but that didn't stop Jeff from retiring all three batters and cementing the win.
I went 2 for 3 with a pair of singles, a walk, and two RBI.
