Cards news: July 8 -- Tired arm will sideline LHP Morejon
The St. Louis Cardinals have placed left-handed relief pitcher Adrian Morejon after he left their 5-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians on July 7 with a tired arm.
Morejan, 31, is enjoying his best season in three campaigns with the Cardinals.
He's pitched in 40 games going 3-1 with three saves and a 1.95 ERA.
In his three seasons with the team, he has been called upon 174 times going 18-6 with four saves and a 2.57 ERA.
Veteran reliever Dylan Lee, 35, will get the chance to fill Morejon's role.
A former top closer in the league, Lee has spent the entire season at AAA Memphis where he has gone 0-3 with three saves and a 5.72 ERA in 24 games.
Last season with the Cardinals, he pitched 34 times and went 5-3 with seven saves and a 4.31 ERA.
