May 28-June 3, 2029

May 28: at Detroit 3-4 L. LP-Klein (1-1). Starter-H.Smith (5 4 1 1 1 6). HR-Cermak (13). Rays took a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the 9th only for Klein to melt down, wasting a good game from Smith and Cermak's 2-run pinch-homer in the 7th to put them ahead.

May 29: at Detroit 5-1 W. WP-Misiorowski (1-3, 5 5 1 1 0 7). Mis finally pitched a good game to earn his first Rays win and C.Williams was 3-4 with a double and 2 RBI to lead the offense.

May 30: at Detroit 3-6 L (10)
. LP-Maldonado (0-2). Starter-Bradley (6 6 2 2 1 5). HR-Westburg (8). Maldonado lost a 3-2 lead in the 9th and then lost the game in the 10th when he gave up a 3-run homer to Jace Jung.

May 31: Off-Day.

June 1: vs Chicago Cubs 4-7 L
. LP-McGee (6-3, 5 5 4 4 1 5). HR-Doughty (5), J.Ramos (7). McGee gave up a homer in the 5th to snap a 3-3 tie and the Cubs scored a run against three different Rays relievers to break it open.

June 2: vs Chicago Cubs 5-1 W. WP-Sheehan (4-4, 5.1 3 1 1 2 8). HR-Isaac (13), Montes (11). After a couple of bad starts Sheehan was brilliant and Montes backed him up going 3-3 with a walk, homer and 2 RBI while Meadows was 3-3 with a double and 2 RBI.

June 3: vs Chicago Cubs 6-3 W (11). WP-McMillon (5-1). Starter-H.Smith (6 5 0 0 1 10). HR-C.Williams 2 (11). Carson Williams to the rescue as the Rays SS homered twice and drove in five, including a 3-run walk-off shot in the bottom of the 11th. Smith was brilliant yet again but Klein blew his second save of the week with two out in the 9th forcing us to extras but victory was only delayed, not denied.

Team record: 39-20, 6 1/2 up on the Yankees and Orioles. Next week: Those Yankees come to town for 4 games before we head off to play 3 in Houston.
