Cards news: July 14 -- 2B Baro, 1B/OF Triantos and closer Wichrowskli earn All-Star invites

The St. Louis Cardinals have learned that second baseman Boston Baro, first baseman/outfielder James Trinantos and rookie closer Brett Wichrowski have been named to the National League roster for the All-Star game.
Baro has been named as the starting second baseman for the NL for the third consecutive season.
This will be the first All-Star appearance for both Triantos and Wichrowski.
It is uncertain if the 25-year-old Baro will be available to play in the game as he is on the injured list with after suffering a hamstring injury.
In 84 games/78 starts this season, Baro has hit .277 with nine home and 30 RBIs.
The 27-year-old Triantos has served has played first base, left field and served as the team's designated hitter this season.
In 91 games/90 starts, he has hit .317 with five home runs and 49 RBIs.
Acquired via trade from the Marlins in the off-season, Wichrowski, 27, started the season at Memphis before earning a quick call-up.
It wasn't long until he had settled into the closer's role.
In 38 games this season, the right-hander has gone 5-1 with 12 saves and a 0.86 ERA.
