Cards news: August 29 -- Elbow strain will sideline SP Hermann for remainder of regular season
The St. Louis Cardinals have learned that starting pitcher Sean Herman will likely miss the remainder of the regular season after leaving their 6-4 loss to the Seattle Mariners on August 29 with a strained elbow.
Hermann, 27, has made 28 starts this season going 9-4 with a 3.50 ERA.
He is expected to miss at least seven weeks.
His spot in the rotation is likely to be filled by left-handed pitcher Andy Dutkanych.
The 27-year-old has made eight starts in the majors this season going 3-3 with a 7.82 ERA.
At AAA Memphis, he is 6-7 with a 4.20 ERA.
A year ago, Dutkanych made 22 starts for the Cardinals and was 8-7 with a 4.01 ERA.
