March 14 – The Crusaders trade outfielder Kazuhide Takeuchi (.282, 76 HR, 311 RBI) to the Miners for C Andy Morris (.259, 1 HR, 5 RBI) and a prospect.

The Raccoons suffered a mild scare in March when Benito Otal fell over his own hindpaws during a workout in training camp and fell on his wrist. He missed the following two weeks of camp with a bone bruise, but Opening Day was not in danger.
