Cards news: Dec. 12 -- RHP Sanchez acquired from Cubs in three-player deal
The St. Louis Cardinals have acquired right-handed starting pitcher David Sanchez from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for outfielder Easton Winfield.
Acquired from the Diamondbacks in a 2029 trade, Sanchez has pitched in 25 games over the past two seasons for the Cubs making two starts.
In those games, he has gone 2-3 with a 3.48 ERA.
Winfield, 25, spent 2023 as the Cardinals primary left fielder.
In 141 games, 132 starts, he hit .254 with 17 home runs and 64 RBIs.
The trade of Winfield was primarily brought about by the acquisition of center fielder Michael Harris II from the Braves.
