Thoughts after week 12

Spin cycle...............repeat.............

.........Here's a "no duh" thought......conferences are too large. They have made the "regular" season a joke. You're seeing the potential for multiple conferences to have ties at the top for the conference title game & no clear tiebreakers. Because the teams at the top are playing each other.

Currently, the American has 4 teams (Navy, N.Tx, ECU, Tulane) tied for 1st w/one loss each. Navy & N.Tx have only played each other, not the other 2. ECU & Tulane have only played each other, not the other 2. So does the Mean Green & the Green Wave play for the title because they are the only ones w/a win vs the top 4? And what if either Tulane or NTx loses but the other 3 win out. How do you fairly pick 2 from that w/o cheating the fans of the one left out?

But the American is just an example, not an anomaly. The ACC has currently 4 tied w/one conference loss. GT will play Pitt, so that will cut it to 3 maximum. But UVa hasn't played any of the other 3. How fair will it be if they get to Charlotte w/o playing the Jackets, SMU, Pitt, even Miami & Clemson?

The SEC? You have the unbeaten Aggies w/Ole Miss, Georgia & Bama tied @ one loss. Bama & the Mississippi never played. Georgia beat OMiss, lost to Bama. Ole Miss probably had the easiest schedule you could possibly have in the SEC. No Aggies, Bama, Vols, Horns, Mizzo or Vandy. The only team from the bottom 7 of the SEC not on Ole Miss sched was Auburn. Is there a way from them to reach Atlanta over 2 teams w/harder slates?

Big T1e8n? We should know by now....Michigan vs Ohio St is never a given. Say the Buckeyes lose to a one conference loss Michigan. That would be 3 teams under Indiana w/1 conf loss. Ohio St, Mich, USC/Oregon. Ducks would have no games vs the other 2. Wolverines would have a win vs OSU & a loss to USC.

Big 12ish? Tex Tech & BYU have one loss, Utah, Houston, Cincy, ArizSt have 2 conference losses. If the Cougars & Raiders get upset, that is 6 teams w/2 losses. Sort that dumpster fire out. TexTech & Utah played 4 of those top 6. BYU & Arizona St 3, Houston & Cincy 2.

The conferences are too large. They don't offer a fair equal chance for everyone to sort out the 2 best teams. The schedules are uneven. Sometimes a school doesn't get a chance to prove who is best. Some get schedules against an unfair amount of top teams.

And the thing is, if you have national title aspirations, do you really want to play in the conference title game? If you are in the group of 5, OK. But if you are Georgia, are you really disappointed that Bama gets more wear & tear vs the Aggies while you rest up & possibly strengthen your ranking just by sitting at home & watching other teams take an additional loss? They have kind of made the conference championships anti-climatic......

.....What happened to Andy Katzenmoyer?........................

.....It is going to be interesting what happens w/the Irish & the playoff. They have to be pulling for So.Cal vs Oregon next week. Oklahoma's Bama upset has tightened the window for Notre Dame. Imagine, again, Michigan beating OSU. OU has a win over Michigan. Two road wins in a row vs Bama & Tennessee. We think the Irish would deserve to get in over that resume? What if Tex Tech loses in the Big 12ish title game? I think the Raiders resume is still better than ND's..........

......In 7 conference games, Wisconsin has 47 points total. Indiana has scored 55+ 3 times in the T1e8n............

........Did you know Texas has -3 pt diff in the SEC?..................
