Midwest League Glove Wizards Honored

“Hit ’em where they ain’t” might be a sound strategy, but it tends to fall apart when defenders seem to materialize out of nowhere. Those slick-fielding standouts—often overlooked during the long grind of a season—took center stage today as the Midwest League announced its 2024 Glove Wizard Award winners.

This year’s selections highlight a mix of sure hands, quick feet and sharp instincts across the diamond. Wisconsin dominated the list, with the Timber Rattlers claiming three honorees: pitcher Jacob Misiorowski (144 TC / 1.000%), whose athleticism off the mound erased countless would-be hits; catcher David Garcia (1144 TC / .999%), a steady receiver with a reputation for shutting down the running game; and first baseman Mike Boeve (957 TC / .999%), whose soft hands and range turned tricky hops into routine outs.

Up the middle, Peoria’s Jeremy Rivas (436 TC / .991%) earned the award at second base, while Gage Workman (409 TC / .985%) of West Michigan took the shortstop honors with his blend of reach and anticipation. Lake County’s Gabriel Rodriguez (265 TC / .974%) captured the third-base award, anchoring the hot corner with quick reactions and a strong arm.

In the outfield, Dylan Neuse (152 TC / .993%) (Cedar Rapids) patrolled left with precision, Homer Bush Jr. (168 TC / .994%) (Fort Wayne) showcased elite coverage in center, and Clark Elliott (203 TC / .985%) (Lansing) rounded out the group in right with dependable routes and a knack for cutting down extra bases.
